John Hazen Tacy Jr, 86, of Exeter, NH and formerly of North Andover, died peacefully April 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Tacy was born in Lawrence July 28, 1925, the son of the late John H. Tacy, Sr and Dorothy (French) Donnelly. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII from 1942 through 1946. After returning from war, he worked as an Engineer at the former Davis and Furber in North Andover and then for Raytheon in Andover through his retirement in 1990.
John was a very active member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church serving on various boards while he lived in North Andover. He was also a member and past master of the Cochichewick Masonic Lodge in North Andover and a member of the Masonic golf league in which he continued to play right through last fall.
Upon moving to NH to live with his son and family in 2005, he also joined the Apple Hill senior golf league in which he played weekly.
In addition to his love of golf, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and playing 45's with his good friends. He loved vacationing with his family in Ossipee and Florida and even waterskied yearly through his 83rd birthday.
John is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Helen (Manning) Tacy and is survived by his son Kevin Tacy and his wife Sheryl (DeScenza) Tacy of Exeter, NH; grandchildren John Bradford Tacy and his wife Lisa and Sarah Kerran Tacy and her fiancée Stephen Tangredi as well as a great grandson Noah Bradford Tacy, all of whom meant the world to him and him to them. John is also survived by his brother Robert Tacy of Modesta, CA and sister Dorothy Dumont of Methuen and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Barbara Raineri, Eugene Donnelly and Joseph Donnelly.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA 01845 as well as a funeral service on Saturday at 10 am at The Chapel at West Parish Garden Cemetery in Andover.
